Known Issues List

Here is a list of known issues with Abine's Privacy Suite, including compatibility with other add-ons:

HTTPS on some sites -- THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED

For some Web sites, it will appear that HTTPS is not encrypting the entire session. This is due to the addition of an iframe into the page that is entirely local to your browser and contains for some Privacy Suite windows.

Although your session with the Web site is encrypted, the browser will report it as a "partially" encrypted connection.

We are working on making sure this is resolved. If you are concerned you can disable TACO on a specific site and view the connection status.

THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED AND SHOULD NO LONGER APPEAR.

Fix: Disable TACO on these specific sites.

Small Screens

Small screens, such as those found on smaller netbooks have trouble displaying the Privacy Suite windows. They are set to a fixed size currently. In an upcoming release, they will all be made relatively scaleable, so that changing the font size on a page will function better on small displays. Additionally, scrolling of the window within a page will be enabled.

BarTab v2.0+

With the combination of TACO 3.0 / Privacy Suite and Bar Tabs, unloaded tabs fail to load content when gaining focus. Instead, a blank page titled Abine Control panel displays. All unloaded, unfocused tabs fail to display content (i.e. are blank). This occurs in all cases when TACO/Abine and BarTab 2.0 are both enabled.

There was a change in Bar Tabs 2.0 to now only uses a single plug point to hook itself into the tab-browser. Note: Due to differences in the event setup, not loading background tabs is no longer supported when using Firefox 3.5. However, BarTab still allows you to not load restored tabs as well as to manually and automatically unload tabs.

Fix: BarTab v1.5 is compatible with TACO/Abine

Mr. Tech Toolkit

Reported incomparability with the drop-down list it adds to the extensions toolbar button. When trying to access the options menu for TACO in this way, Firefox crashes.

The following Web sites are known to be incompatible with TACO/Privacy Suite. For these websites, please ensure that you are accecpting any necessary cookies or javascript and then disable TACO/Privacy Suite for this site:

    - RESOLVED, NOW COMPATIBLE

  • Fox News. Revenue Science JavaScript tracker must be allowed for videos to play.
