Autofill Forms 0.9.8.3 making inappropriate entries?

Although the addon, Autofill Forms, is working pretty good within Firefox 7, it does make apparent goofs every so often. In one case, it will fill in my full name into a "company" field even though I didn't put a company name into my profile. Been told that it wasn't Autill Forms' fault, but rather the web page may not have been designed to a certain standard??? Thanks for your post.
I've been keeping track of all the things we want to fix with Autofill Forms.
I'm adding this issue with the Company name to my documentation.

Is there another site as well? If you can give me a direct link to the website that has the "Company" field on it, I'll have an easier time recreating this.

Also, have you tried TACO before?
It has an Identities app that is much more stable than Autofill Forms. Also, we have been mapping registration and login forms across the web. If you see a form that is not filled correctly by TACO, you can teach it how to behave on a particular site. Very cool and it sounds like it fits your needs.

Hi Jeff. You happen to have the right site. If you want to try to duplicate my problem, all you have to do is go through the order process. Like order anything as a guest...don't worry, you'll be out of the site before it comes time to actually make an order. As you fill in the blanks, there should be a field "Company." That is where and when the glitch happened.

Autofill Forms filled this correctly for me, without any company.

Sorry, but I gave you the wrong site. Problem occurred when ordering from LL Bean (http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/65688?fe ... Id=1085526). To duplicate: Pick any item and order as a guest. The next screen that will come up after ordering as a guest is the screen with the "Company Name" field. My Autofill is still entering my full name into that field.

Ah, got it.
I was able to recreate this.

What I did to resolve it on my end is:
Right click on the "Company Name" field and say "Add a rule for this field..."
The settings menu will show up and you can change the Value to use the correct information.

I'm glad that you got the fix, but I couldn't. I think I couldn't because I didn't quite do the right things (really don't understand how to put in field rules, values, etc) and will need some more guidance. Actually, I tried two approaches.
1. First I made the value for company a blank, no entry...but still my full name appeared
2. Totally removed Company (not listed anywhere), but the full name still came into the LLBean company field

After you click on "Add a rule for this field..." then you need to type your Company Name into the "Value" field.
Then, click "Add."

Jeff, did what you suggested and it worked, But I think I did something a little different, maybe not: Instead of typing a company name, I left that field blank and clicked Add. Organization Name was added, but had nothing in its value field. I guess that I will have to do this type of "correction" for each site in which there is an inappropriate filling of a field???

Ah excellent! Glad you were able to get it working.
Leaving it blank is a really clever way to do it as well.

Yes, you will have to manually correct the fields every now and then.
