Apply new changes freezes firefox

Upon visiting google.com on Firefox 4.0.1 (with Abine extension), a yellow Abine annotation appears at the top of the page, "Update: google.com may not function well without changing Abine Privacy Settings". I click "Great, always apply new changes for me". The browser just hangs. The button never gets declicked. It still has that depressed look. Windows task manager shows firefox as 'not responding'. The memory usage slowly goes up. Is this a known problem? What is supposed to happen here?

Re: Apply new changes freezes firefox

On some sites if you block a specific web tracker or 3rd party javascript file from loading the page will not work. This is because they've built their website in a way that can't handle one of these 3rd party scripts from loading. It doesn't have to be this way.

But, since it is, and since people often need to use a specific site but still want to block all they can, we've got a list of what trackers are required for certain sites to function.

What's supposed to happen is that when you "accept" the settings change then that specific tracker will be allowed for that site you're on. We've made a number of improvements to this specific area in our latest release. So check for updates and any problem should be resolved.

Generally if a site doesn't seem to work right it's because they require some level of tracking: either cookies (almost always at sites where you "log in", or one or more 3rd party trackers/widgets (such as Omniture). Try unlocking trackers if they're blocked - then reload the page and see if it resolves the issue. If it does report the site to us and we can add it into our recommendation set.
