persistant cookies

Hi All,

My blocked cookie counter just hit 2390. I'm tickled. One problem tho -- do these blocked Social Buttons, Ad Networks and Tracking Companies mean that I should not have persistant cookies?

I registered at a certain website many years ago and now I visit there two or three times a year. But I don't log in and have not logged in for a year or more. Within a few days of visiting this site, I get emails from them. It's happened more than once. I figure it means there's gotta be a persistant cookie hiding here somewhere. Any thoughts?

Re: persistant cookies

Hi Gale,

The counter at the bottom of DNT+ doesn't count blocked cookies. It counts blocked attempts to collect your information from social networks, ad networks, and tracking companies.

This is a great first step! But it doesn't entirely protect you from persistent cookies. DNT+ does not have a feature for blocking cookies.

DNT+ does in fact place opt-out cookies in your FIrefox browser, but that's different. I do recommend that you set Firefox to delete your cookies automatically at the end of every browser session so that those hidden cookies are removed.
