Bug reports we love
Here are some examples of bug reports that do a great job of giving us
enough information to verify and fix the issue. This usually
includes:
-
What you were doing just before / at the time you saw the issue?
-
If you are able to reproduce the issue by doing the same thing(s)
again after closing and restarting your browser
A screenshot of the problem if it is visual
-
A list of other add-ons you’re using
- Your email and contact details
Short descriptions we love
" Must enter username and password everytime I try to login to Yahoo in Firefox4 Win7 64bit. Disable Abine and log in performes ok. This did not happen on previous versions of Firefox before v 4 "
" I'm trying to remove the Abine apps that most confuse my 75 year old father. One of which is the need for a master password. Whenever I have tried to remove the password, change the timing options or to change the password, I get no response from the machine.
Since, I wanted you to have the logs of when it fails, I'm sending this report first. I will disable all add-ons and extentions in Firefox, and try again. Expect another report that lets you know if an add-on is causing this problem, or a programming bug. "
"
I updated Abine to the latest version and then loaded my iGoogle homepage. The fonts were all messed up, the widgets were skewed in different places, etc...
I am blocking the Google Widgets tracker at the site and using firefox 3.6 "
Specific Examples
- Master Password Issue
1) When entering the master password to open Abine, there is no CAPS LOCK checker. I have yet to run across a program that doesn't notify you that the CAPS are on. Most make you acknowledge this before proceeding with the entry process. It seems easy enough to fix. I can't code to save my life, but I captured the following example from MSDN's KB.

Coding and explaination: Form Events
Set the KeyPreview property of the form to true. This will help to pass the keys pressed on the child controls to the parent control (form) (for better understanding of the property, build the attached test application with this property set to false).
In the design view, double click the form to generate its Form_Load event and call the method UpdateKeys. It will read the current status of the keys and update the form accordingly.
private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
// read the current status of the specified keys
UpdateKeys();
}
Again: By using the above status checker, it would seem to be easy to catch if the CAPS LOCK, or other "sticky" keys are active, and allow a notification rather wondering for 18 times why your password won't work.
2) There is still no way to update the master password hint. If you change passwords frequently, like we are told to do, you end up with a password hint that is useless.
Thank you for fixing these bugs.

No need to take time off to reply. It's just a screenshot of one of
the DBoxes I noticed had some garbled text on it.

- Great example of background information
OK, here are three screen shots. NOTE: I did not so much as touch
anything on my computer except to hit the Print Screen key in making
these screen shots. This is exactly how the dboxes came up and
displayed (note the Close button was off screen to the right on your
larger dbox.
Here are system stats:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.8)
Gecko/20100722 Firefox/3.6.8 - Build ID: 20100722155716
O/S = XP Srvc Pk 3. Video Card = EVG; GeForce 7800 GTX; NVIDIA chips.
Screen res. = 1152 x 864; Color set to 32 bit.
Monitor = Multisync 97F - 19" screen.
Fx Screen fonts set to "20"; Min font size set to "20", using System
Colors, and "Allow Pages to Choose their own colors, instead of my
selections above" is UNCHECKED. (That's why your dboxes look like
Casper the Ghost).
I don't know beans about XUL programming; but I've noticed over the
years that many of the Open Source apps are afflicted with huge dboxes
-- most notably Fx, Open Office, and GIMP. I don't have a clue as to
why that is. Must be some inherent incompatability between Windows
O/S's video and the Open Source video engines.
Anyway, if you can get these dboxes shrunk, you're on your way; the
app does seem to have picked up some speed in the upgrade, BTW. Keep
banging at it. If you need some more screen shots, or any other
feedback, lemmie know.
BTW, sorry for the large file size; but I thought I'd better just ship
them "exact" at 1152 x 864. I'll do a proportional shrink in the
future, in GIMP.
