Our customer care crusader Kathleen is the second in a series of “who we are” interviews with the people who work at Abine (check out the first interview with Ryan). A company is only as good as the people behind it, and we don’t mean to brag, but we have some pretty great people here. We also tend to enjoy puppies and pancakes, perhaps more than the average group of people does.
This week, Sarah sat down to ask Kathleen some burning questions, such as whether vampires, zombies, or werewolves are the best.
Sarah: What do you do at Abine?
Kathleen: I’m in customer care, and I spend some time doing customer care and DeleteMe operations.
Sarah: What were you doing before you came to Abine?
Kathleen: I worked for Gazelle.com for their customer care department.
Sarah: Do you have any special background that makes you good at this kind of thing?
Kathleen: I’m just good at it! No special background.
Sarah: Which is the best and why: vampires, zombies, or werewolves?
Kathleen: I’m going to go with werewolves, because I really like Harry Potter, and professor Lupin who turns into a werewolf was probably my favorite part of that whole entire book/movie.
Sarah: Why does privacy matter to you?
Kathleen: I don’t like that people can know everything about me with one click of a button. That’s kind of creepy. They could find out where I am because of Facebook or Twitter, and if someone wants to stalk me, that’s scary.
Sarah: Name your top 3 movies in no particular order.
Kathleen: The Wedding Singer, Donnie Darko, and Up.
Sarah: Name the best thing and worst thing about the Internet.
Kathleen: The best thing is that you can do everything so fast. The worst thing is that nothing ever goes away; everything is always there.
Sarah: You’re on Survivor. What’s the 1 item you bring with you?
Kathleen: An unlimited supply of soap.
Sarah: That’s technically cheating. Let’s say we’re in the Harry Potter universe. What would your patronus be?
Kathleen: Leopard, because I have a sick obsession with them.
(This interviewer notes that Kathleen was wearing a pair of leopard-print rain boots the day earlier.)
Sarah: Customer support isn’t the most relaxing job. What’s your secret for staying positive when helping people?
Kathleen: I remember that I am that person sometimes, and it’s frustrating to be the person who has an expectation that’s not being met. So when I go to customer service, I want someone who’s understanding and will work with me, not against me. So that’s kind of how I work on that.
Sarah: If you could see any artist in concert, living or dead, who would it be?
Kathleen: I would really like to go to an Alanis Morisette concert. That was the first album I ever had as a child, so that would probably make my life.
Sarah: I’m going to give you a word, and you give me your immediate, stream-of-consciousness reaction to it. Ready?
Pizza – Oh my god, I’m so hungry.
Facebook – I need a new profile picture. I need one really bad.
Privacy – Abine.
Creepy – Stalker.
Google – Greatest search engine of all time.
Kittens – I love kittens!
Tacos – Yum.
